On Friday, January 31st, the 3rd Backgammon Proficiency Test was administered in Texas Backgammon Championships 2014.

This time, we had the privilege of welcoming many Giants of Backgammon like Kit Woolsey, Bob Wachtel, Steve Sax.

We had 31 attendees, and the results were actually high-level. John Klein (USA) got the top score with 41 marks (out of 50), followed by Bob Koca (USA).
It was so nice of the staff in Texas to help us, and thank you very much for joining us.

Currently, Matt Cohn-Geier and Giorgos Kleitsas is #1 in terms of most answers right and Falafel is #1 in terms of least error made. The whole list is here.

It has been more than 10 days since we administered “BGTV Proficiency Contest” in Istanbul Open 2014. Arda Fındıkoğlu, who is the host of Istanbul Open and the president of WBF Turkey, and Cüneyt Argun Genç, who helped us as a test proctor and a Turkish translator, applied our proficiency test on a different day.

They both reached to very good results. Arda got 36 marks (out of 50) and Cüneyt got 35 marks. Since they monitored each other as a witness to make it fair, we decided to add their scores into our official results.

We really appreciate their cooperation in “BGTV Proficiency Contest”. We would like to take this time to say thank-you to them again.

On Saturday, January 18th, the 3rd Backgammon Proficiency Test was conducted as “BGTV Proficiency Contest” in Istanbul Open 2014 (Turkey).

At the discretion of Mr.Arda, the president of WBF Turkey, a special quiet room was prepared for the test.

The rule of the test was announced in Turkish and English.

The room was full of 17 testees.

As a result, David Presser (Israel) got the highest score, followed by Feza Diyarbekir (Turkey).

The world-famous player Falafel (Giants #1 2011) sat the 3rd backgammon proficiency test in Cyprus. Mochy monitored it in the heat of the 6th Cyprus Open 2013.

Falafel got 42 answers right and his total error (equity loss) was only 580. That’s awesome! The result was there for all to see.
He achieved the third as a result, but Matt Cohn-Geier is still #1.
