Review of 5th Backgammon Proficiency Test (from May 2015 to April 2016)

This is a review of our 5th “Backgammon Proficiency Test” conducted from May 2015 to April 2016.

Looking back upon the past year, we provided our 5th test with Masayuki “Mochy” Mochizuki and Michihito “Michy” Kageyama throughout the world, at JBL Ouisen Tournament, Chicago Open, the World Championship, Japan Open, Istanbul Open, Nordic Open and so on.

We had 114 testees over the past year, and we are deeply grateful to all of them for joining us. The average score was 23.4 (out of 50) increased by 2.4 points as compared with the former test. Also, the average errors (equity loss) was 3175 pulled down by 566. Those may show this test become slightly easier than the former one.
You can see the final result of the 5th test here.

Now, here is a top 10 list of the entire 5th test.

1 38 1151 Zdenek Zizka Czech

Based on the number of correct answers, Zdenek Zizka (Czech), Kanade Kubota (Japan), Falafel (USA/Israel) and Thomas Tenland (Sweden) tied for first place. In view of the total errors, Zdenek got the best among all of the testees. He is a promising young player and were actually elected to be a member of the team “World” in Nordic Open.
We’re greatly honored for a young talent like he to get interested in our test.

For your further interest, here is a histogram of the entire 5th test, showing the number of testees every two points in score.

Next, this is a scatter chart showing intersections of score and error for each testee.

Last, here is a pie chart, showing the breakdown of testees by nation. The total number of their nations was 25.

We renew our “Backgammon Proficiency Test” every May at JBL Ouisen Tournament in Japan.

See you again for our next test!! :)

5th Proficiency Test – Round 7 @ Nordic Open 2016

On Sunday, March 27th, our 5th Backgammon Proficiency Test was conducted by Masayuki “Mochy” Mochizuki (Giants #1 2015-2016) during the fourth day of Nordic Open 2016, Denmark.

Thirty-two players took time to challenge it, and Mochy gave them the in-depth lecture with review of the answers on the next day.

Their results were totally excellent and eight players scored over 30 points (out of 50).
Zdenek Zizka (Czech) and Thomas Tenland (Sweden) got the highest with 38 points.
For the whole result, they reach first place in terms of the number of right answers.

You won’t believe this, but Zdenek is not yet twenty years old. He is a promising young player and were actually elected to be a member of the team “World” in Nordic Open.
We’re greatly honored for a young talent like he to get interested in our test.

We have one more chance left to conduct our existing test in April.

Extra Test in Istanbul 2016

Three Turkish guys, Arda Fındıkoğlu, Cüneyt Argun Genç and Gökhan Güneş sat our 5th proficiency test in Istanbul last week. They are our especial friends and they helped us a lot for “BGTV Proficiency Contest 2016” during Istanbul Open.

They all got good results.
Most notably, Arda hit a smash and got 35 marks (out of 50). He currently ranks 6th in terms of the most answers right.
Cüneyt got 28 and it was much higher than last year’s.

You can see the whole result of the 5th test at this page, as of today.

We really appreciate their cooperation during “BGTV Proficiency Contest”.
Thank you so much! ;)

5th Proficiency Test – Round 5 @ Backgammon Festival 2015

1 34 1728 Junichi Tanaka Japan
2 30 1980 Jake Jacobs Singapore
3 28 3453 R. O. Japan
4 23 3236 Hideki Tosaka Japan
5 21 3684 K. K. Japan
6 20 3864 Yu Date Japan
7 14 4813 Jesper Carlsson Sweden

Sincerely,

Falafel sat the 5th Backgammon Proficiency Test

The world’s most recognized player “Falafel” Natanzon (USA/Israel) sat the 5th backgammon proficiency test a week after the Chicago Open.

He got a nice score with score of 38 out of 50, highest in the world at this time.
However, it might be a slightly disappointing result for him.

Anyway, we added his score to our official records, since one of the test designers, Michihito “Michy” Kageyama monitored him in a fair manner.

If you want to see the list of the results, please check it out here.
